not words you come across normally , if they interest you , take a closer look at my background and work , you may find them appealing ,
these are all terms associated with italian lime plaster , one of the original fresco materials ,
slaked lime putty ,mixed with finely crushed white carrara marble , a natural and beautiful material to work with , the plaster is aplied with small specialist trowels , the effect , well that is up to the artist , from one layer to many multiple layers , each giving a different outcome , the end result can be from a subtle marble to highly textured look , but amazingly smooth to touch
carrara is heart of tuscany for the finest white marble , from the time of michaelangelo and earlier , and still the finest quality to be found , white marble is available elsewhere in the world , but the word carrara is synonomous with quality
the work is mainly secco fresco , (dry plaster) as the pigment used is oil based and gives a greater luminosity in colour for my style of work , imho.
you may like to follow the progress of my latest work , simple line scgrafitti ,based on and around the waters of killiney, dalkey, bulloch, forty foot ,dun laoghaire, seapoint, inspired by kayaking , snorkling around these areas , the highlight being snorkling with the seals and photographing them , tho not the best pics , they can be viewed on flickr ,
this series has been in progress for well over a year , from sketches , to watercolour , acrylic , but never having what i was looking for ,till possibly now
there is no attempt to refine the edges of the work, it is as you see it , plaster applied in various layers ,the lines are carved with a craft knife , screwdriver, scissors, whatever is at hand , a fairly primitive way of working , and displaying ,
